“the girls”,After nine years of entertaining patrons from cruise ships in the Caribbean to major theatre and nightclub venues in the Twin Cities area, “the girls” (Lori Dokken, Judi Donaghy, Erin Schwab and Patty Peterson) will be retiring their fabulous four-part harmonies and taking a break as a group to pursue personal and individual professional career interests.
The fantastic females’ finale will be on October 3rd, 2009 at The Hopkins’ Center for the Arts. Join Lori, Judi, Erin and Patty as they combine forces with former “girls” member Debbie Duncan and “girls sub-extraordinaire”, Rachel Holder to help the theatre kick off their 2009-2010 “Music at the Center - Saturday Series season.
Over the years “the girls” grew organically, starting out in the late ‘90’s as a casual trio with founding members Dokken, Donaghy and Duncan at The Times Bar & Café. In the year 2000, they added Erin Schwab to the mix to gain the opportunity of having four parts available for harmonizing and after releasing their debut disc in 2001, “REQUESTS”, they became a mainstay of the metropolitan musical community. Patty Peterson replaced Duncan in 2004 when Debbie left the group to place all of her time and energy into her solo career. The year 2007 found “the girls” enlisting Rachel Holder to cover Patty’s vocal part while she recovered from emergency heart surgery for an aortic dissection.
“the girls” are excited to be returning to the Hopkins Center for the Arts, where in 2003 they were featured musical guests. That evening they brought the house down, not only with their infectious harmonies, but also with their one of a kind brand of self-inflicted humor and hysterical storytelling, the unique traits that keep their audiences coming back for more. Patty Peterson certainly feels at home at the theatre it has been the venue for many productions featuring the infamous Peterson Family.
Join “the girls” – Turbocharged! on Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 for an evening of women musicians at their best! Lori, Judi, Erin, Patty, Debbie and Rachel promise to rock the house with tunes from Aretha, Tina, Etta, Stevie … and many more. It promises to be an evening you won’t soon forget!
